I almost FAINTED when I saw this, "A pint of beer - 187 calories". I was like, DAMN! I only managed to get rid of 150 calories with so much efforts taken. Sealed Anyway, I have a new policy, "Each friend is entitled to date me for a drink only once a month and I am allowed to reject them if my drinking limit hit the ceiling". Laughing 150 calories is way too hard for me to burn, let alone, 10 pints of beer I took last week. Duh…  Annoyed

Carlsberg (12 fl oz) - 148 calories

Heinekins (12 fl oz) - 160 calories

Margarita (3 fl oz) - 170 calories

Martini (2.5 fl oz) - 155 calories

Wine (4 fl oz) - 80 to 180 calories, depending on type of wine

Starbucks (Mocha Frappuccino with whipped cream) - 570 calories

Coca Cola - 105 to 280 calories

Mac's Chocolate Milk Shake - 580 calories

Chinese Food -

  • Most Chinese food is high in calories and very high in fat. Up to 70-80 per cent of its calories come from fat. To reduce calories when eating Chinese foods, follow these tips:

  • Choose mostly vegetable foods.
These are usually lower in fat and calories.

  • Choose boiled/steamed rice, NOT fried rice.
This alone can cut calories by 50 per cent.

  • Watch your portion size.
The bigger the portion, the higher the calories (and fat).

  • Do not be tempted by high-calorie extras like fried noodles or spring rolls.
  • When in doubt, order soup, a vegetable main coue with steamed rice and of course tea!

This way you can enjoy Chinese food without wearing the calories on your butt.

Chinese Nuggets (6 pieces) - 300 calories

Chicken Wings (Fried) 495 calories

Mac Fries (regular) - 540 calories

Hot cake - 520 calories

Sashimi (Tuna) 2 oz - 62 calories

Sushi & Sashimi (12 oz) - 350 calories

Milk Chocolate (2 oz) - 290 calories

Chocolate Donuts - 240 calories

Metabolic Rate Affects Calorie Burning

Our metabolism determines how rapidly our body burns calories while at rest. Some people have a relatively fast metabolic rate, so they burn energy faster than people with a slower metabolism. This is why they appear to be able to eat relatively large amounts of food without gaining weight. Although our metabolic rate is part of our genetic inheritance, we can raise it somewhat by taking regular aerobic exercise and by increasing our muscle-to-fat ratio. We can also maintain an efficient metabolism by eating nutritious food, by ensuring our energy-intake does not fall below about 1200 calories a day, and by eating something every 3-4 hours.

Sigh… I decided to be an animal next life. No need to count calories or even stay slim.

To increase metabolism, always eat breakfast in the morning. Break-fast…break the fast. Don't skip breakfast. If you wait until mid morning or afternoon to eat, your metabolism will run slower. Think of breakfast as adding logs to the fireplace. Your metabolism is the fireplace and logs are the breakfast.

Increase metabolism by eating smaller meals through the day. Eat 4 to 6 six small meals, 2 to 3 hours apart.

Don't depend on herbal products to increase metabolism or energy level. Any metabolic increase will be minimum and herbs are not cheap. Instead, include more energy foods such as whole grains, beans, vegetables and fruits.

Park further away and walk. Use the stairs instead of the elevator when possible. Walk to the post office instead of getting into the car. Take your dog on a daily walk. Do more activities around the house to burn energy instead of wasting money on pills and potions that don't work.

Incorporate a walking routine to increase metabolism at least three to four times a week. Walk 30 to 40 minutes each time. This is the best way to increase your metabolism.

Don't starve yourself when trying to lose weight. This will slow down your metabolism in a hurry. Avoid 5 to 6 hour gaps between meals without eating.

Be committed to eating smaller meals at regular intervals. Prepare food in advance and bring it with you. Never eat sporadically and plan each meal. The common mistake is to skip meals and eat too little during the day. This makes you vulnerable for eating junk food later in the day. Eating to lose weight takes planning.

The Soup Diet is based on a fat-burning soup that contains negligible calories. The more soup you eat the more weight you should lose. It allows people to eat as much Cabbage Soup as they want each day, which should sound appealing to dieters.  After all, dieters love to hear that they can eat unlimited amounts of food and still lose weight fast.

The Diet relies on eating strange and bizarre combinations of food that nearly force you to starve each day. Dieters are allowed all the water and cabbage soup they want, plus a very restricted set of other foods.

The 7 Days Cabbage

Soup Diet Plan

Eat as much soup as you desire for seven days and you can lose 10 to 15 pounds. The recipe varies slightly, but includes a variety of low-calorie vegetables such as cabbage, onions, and tomatoes, flavored with bouillon, onion soup mix, and tomato juice. Each day of the seven-day program has specific foods that must be eaten, including potatoes, fruit juice, many vegetables, and on one day, beef.

Day One:

  • Eat only fruit, all the fruit you want except banana.
  • Drink unsweetened tea, black coffee, cranberry juice, and water.
  • Eat as much soup as you like.

Day Two:

All you want - fresh, raw, or cooked vegetables of your choice. Stay away from dry beans, peas, and sweet corn. Reward yourself with a big baked potato with butter for dinner. Eat as much soup as you like but no fruit for today.

Day Three:

Combine days one and two, eat as much fruit, vegetables, and soup, as you like but no baked potato.

Day Four:

Eat as many as eight bananas and drink as many glasses of skim milk as you would like on this day, along with your soup. This day is supposed to lessen your desire for sweets.

Day Five:

You may have 10-20 ounces of beef (300-500g) and a large tin or up to six fresh tomatoes. Drink at least 6 to 8 glasses of water this day to wash the uric acid from your body. Eat your soup at least once today. You may eat broiled or baked chicken (skinless) instead of beef. If you prefer, you can substitute broiled fish for the beef.

Day Six:

Eat beef and vegetables today. You can even have two or three steaks if you like, with fresh vegetables or salad. NO BAKED POTATO. Eat your soup at least once.

Day Seven:

Eat all you want of brown rice, unsweetened fruit juices, and vegetables. Be sure to eat your soup at least once to day. No bread, alcohol, or carbonated beverages, not even diet soda.

Cabage Soup Recipe

- 6 large green onions
- 2 green peppers
- 1 or 2 cans of tomatoes (diced or whole)
- 3 carrots
- 1 container (10 oz. or so) Mushrooms
- 1 bunch celery
- 1/2 head cabbage
- 1 package Lipton soup mix
- 1 or 2 cubes bouillon (optional)
- 1 48oz can V8 juice (optional)

Directions:

1. Slice green onions, put in pot and start to sauté with cooking spray.

2. Cut green pepper stem end off and cut in half, take seeds and membrane out. Cut the green pepper into bite size pieces and put in pot.

3. Take the outer leafs layers off the cabbage, cut into bite size pieces, put in pot.

4. Clean carrots cut into bite size pieces, put in pot.

5. Slice mushrooms into thick slices (otherwise they will disappear in the soup), put in pot.

6. If you would like a spicy soup, add a small amount of cayenne pepper (red pepper) now (1/3 teaspoon is quite a bit as the soup will get spicier as it cooks further).

7. You can use beef or chicken bouillon cubes for seasonings. They have all the salt and flavors you will need.

8. Use about 12 cups of water (or 8 cups and the V8 juice), cover and put heat on low. Let soup cook for a long time (two hours works well).

9. Season to taste with salt and pepper.

10. Eat all the soup you want, whenever you want for the next 7 days.

  • Stop before you are stuffed. Learn your body's signals and practice stopping before you feel full.

  • Be selective. It's easy to eat food just because it's put in front of you. Be mindful of what you are eating, and make sure that you are choosing what to eat

  • Select small portions. Portions in most restaurants are over-sized. If you are eating with someone else, try sharing an entrée, or order two appetizers instead of an entree. If you're eating alone, eat half and take the rest home for another meal.
  • Beware of desserts. A single slice of The Cheesecake Factory's Original Cheesecake packs almost 800 calories and an incredible 49 grams of fat (28 of them saturated, or 50 percent more than is recommended maximum per day). Either share such a rich dessert several ways or skip it altogether and finish your meal with a piece of fruit or other lower-calorie option.
  • Slow down. Eating fast short-circuits the signals that your digestive system generates to signal that it's getting full. Slowing down gives your stomach and intestines time to send these messages to your brain.
  • Spoil your appetite. Having a snack or appetizer before a meal can dull your hunger and help you eat less at the meal.
  • Be aware of why you are eating. Sometime we eat when we're bored, anxious, or angry. Try not to soothe your negative feelings with food. Dealing with them in other ways –talking to friends, listening to music, taking a walk, meditating, or working–can help you relieve stress without gaining weight.
