Sponsored Advertorial – Girls’ Trip Out (Penang) Day 3

Our FINAL day at Penang. Of cos, we didn’t waste every single minute of our last day.

Early in the morning, we headed out to Gurney Drive’s famous Bak Ku Teh. Thanks to the friendly G Hotel staff, we found our way there.

Penang’s Bak Ku Teh is very different from ours. The soup is clear. Inside there is dried bean curd (tau Ki), meat ball, pork slice, pork ribs etc…… Delicious indeed! Well, of cos, it goes well with a pot of chinese tea.

Look at the crowd! Mind you, it was a Monday morning. How crowded it was! It’s a luxury to carry your own tea pot, tea cups and tea leaves to enjoy your breakfast. COOL!

No regret! Walking like 40 mins to & fro just to have such delicious Bak Ku Teh. Yummilicious!!!!!

Checked out from G Hotel at 10am & headed to the airport.

Our check-in booth at Penang airport.

The Penang airport. Nice, clean and quiet.

At 1.15pm, we boarded our plane.

Our on-board flight lunch (Rice with chicken). Michelle and I were starving. Delicious! MAS didn’t disappoint me with their food. Instead they fed me well. Awesome!

At 3pm, Michelle and I were back in reality. The feeling was like high life back to reality aka heaven back to earth. -_-”

I left my heart at Penang.

I’m gonna go in search of it at Penang early next year.

Penang, I will be back!!!!!!

Malaysia Airlines is currently having a promotion from Singapore to Penang (From SGD81 one way).

Sponsored Advertorial – Girls’ Trip Out (Penang) Day 2

Anticipating Day 2 with excitement so as usual, I woke up super duper early.

Breakfast at the Executive Lounge. Delicious breakfast, especially the Spicy Tau Kuah. *slurp*

While Michelle headed back to our room to rest, I explored the swimming pool of G Hotel.

Infinite Pool!!!! My favourite! I love G Hotel’s swimming pool!

It just reminded me of Sentosa’s Cafe Del Mar. Don’t you agree?

Spa!!!!! That’s every women’s favourite. Which women don’t like spa???? Well, it cost us RM150 for a 90 mins session! Isn’t it worth??????

Time to head out. It’s a being-a-tourist day.

We took a cab to Dr Sun Yat Sen’s Penang Base which is located at 120 Armenian Street.

But unfortunately, it wasn’t open on Sunday. The operating hours is Monday to Saturday from 10am to 2pm. How disappointed! =_(

Leaving without much choice, we went to Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion, a die-die-must-visit-place-when-you-are-in-Penang. Unfortunately, the tour started at 3pm when we were there at 12.30pm. We ended up “roaming” the streets on our own.

A temple we “accidentally” found. 天后宫. It’s a temple dedicated to Goddess Tian Hou (The Heavenly Mother).

We actually walked a few streets before we found food. No wonder taxi uncle told us that Sundays are their off days.

Our cheap and good chicken rice. The whole coffee shop was packed. No wonder……………….

Penang’s local beer, Jaz at a back packer lodge. To pass time, we even had a game of pool. Hee….. My first time ever playing pool though. =X Thank god, nobody bothers to look at the lousy me. *phew*

The long awaiting tour at Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion. RM 12 per person, if I remembered correctly.

Our MUST POSE pictures outside Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion.

Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion is a grand Chinese style mansion along Leith Street. It was built by Cheong Fatt Tze (1840-1916), a Chinese of Hakka descent, who was also one of the richest man in South East Asia.

This mansion was Cheong Fatt Tze’s favourite and all eight sons of his were raised there. The house was also the home for his wives No. 3, 6 and 7.

This mansion was built with Cheong Fatt Tze’s strong belief in Feng Shui. A master geomancer was called in to find the best placement for the mansion. That was why Cheong Fatt Tze’s mansion is fronted by a rhombus-shaped garden. Within the mansion itself, everything was symmetrical.

In 1989, Cheong Fatt Tze’s mansion was put on for sale. Fortunately, a group of local conservationists stepped forward to buy it and the mansion was restored. Today, the mansion has been readapted as a boutique hotel.

The Cheong Fatt Tze tour took 1 hour odd. Fruitful and event one.

Back to hotel and time for dinner and some shopping. After all, it was our last night at Penang.

Our food loots to bring back to Singapore for family and of cos, not forgetting our wonderful office colleagues!!!!!!!!!!

Dinner was held at this food street near to Gurney Plaza.

Another plate of Penang’s Char Kuey Teow.

The famous Penang lasak. Delicious!!!!!!!!!! It’s so sour-ish. My favourite!!!!

Their wan tan mee! It’s a little different from our Singapore version. You can’t really find this version in Singapore.

The steamed Or Tah with lots of fish meat!!!!!!!!

Banana pancake. Smelt pandan and taste coconut. I’m going to sell this at Singapore’s Pasar Malam when I rent a stall! I’m sure it’s gonna be selling like hot cakes!

Penang’s must have D24 durian. Cheap. It merely cost us RM6.

Our childhood candy. But it’s the improved version with different flavours! RM1.20 each.

We had some other food like Rojak, Kang Kong with Squid BUT there weren’t any pictures because we gobbled up the food before we even remembered that we didn’t take any pictures of them. =X Plus, we were made panic by the sudden rain which came by. -_-” But thank god, it was merely a passing shower.

With a full stomach, we headed back to G Hotel’s G Spot for a quick drink.

Fruitful day indeed. We accomplished quite a lot on our Day 2.

Back to room to get ready to head back to Singapore the next day. The packing was kind of reluctant.

STAY AROUND FOR MY GIRLS’ TRIP OUT (PENANG) DAY 3 AND AN EXCLUSIVE BLOG POSTING ABOUT G HOTEL.

I can guarantee that you will fall in love with G Hotel just like me.

Sponsored Advertorial – Girls’ Trip Out (Penang) Day 1

Thank you, Malaysia Airlines (MAS) for the air tickets to Penang, which marked my virgin trip!

At Singapore Changi airport, the MAS staff treated us like VIP. First, we were assigned to better seats despite the online check-in done earlier. Next, we were greeted by the management of MAS. That seriously made us feel very VIP-like. Best of all, we were given the access of MAS‘ Golden Lounge.

We were so “shua gu” (mountain tortoise) that upon entering the Golden Lounge, we checked out every single corner of the Golden Lounge. -_-” First timer in an airport lounge, therefore, do forgive us.

The meeting room equiped with computers.

The big lounge with TVs. You can either rest, relax and have a cup of coffee or try the Usqueeze from OSIM while waiting for your boarding.

Great & delicious food! That saved us some money from eating at the expensive Terminal 2 of Changi Airport.
Hee… This is how happy I was to enjoy my breakfast and coffee at the Golden Lounge.

After our breakfast, we were “escorted” to the chair spa room. Don’t “pray pray”! It’s OSIM Udesire.

Look at how relax Michelle was! Our pre-trip massages to prepare us for the 3D2N Penang.

The Golden Lounge even has an arcade room, a well equiped toilet cum bathroom etc…..

Before we left to board our plane, me being thick-skinned, asked the MAS staff to take a picture with me. She was such a nice lady!

It was a small plane, but it was comfortable. The colourful seats brightened up my mood even more!

The better seating pitch which I love most. See! I could stretch my leg. I could even cross my legs (Ya la.. It’s unglam but who cares?) with ample space left still. It was so unlike the flight I took to Phuket. I whined throughout the whole journey about the seating pitch. =X

Thank you MAS for allowing a “special” guest to have a seat on his own. =P

My little Piggy.

I bet he was the smallest size passenger MAS ever had.

Off we went, bidding goodbye to our dear Singapore.

Our on-the-flight lunch! Yummilicious tomato rice with curry chicken. MAS really fed us non-stop. It was awesome!

The happy me after food! No doubt, the phrase “A hungry man is an angry man” is.

We reached Penang safely an hour half later.

Next 2 nights were spent at G Hotel Penang, a new 5 star hotel. Yes, the hotel was complimentary. A BIG thank you to G Hotel.

From the main door of G Hotel, you can see trees, sun and sea. It was indeed beautiful. How relax I felt!

The chic lobby and lobby lounge of G Hotel. And well, my first reaction went “WOW! Very nice hor!!!!!”

We went on a Penang food trail tour, complimentary from Traders Hotel, Penang. The Penang Food Trail, specially designed by Traders Hotel Penang is a dine-around programme for guests who are interested in sampling Penang’s famous hawker food and delicacies.

Our transport of the day and the WONDERFUL trishaw uncle we had. And yes, I like this picture. It’s just super retro.

1st stop – A road side Chendol stall. RETRO right? The Chendol was fabulous! So much different from Singapore’s version. They used fresh coconut instead. YUMMY!

The road side Indian stall. How we seriously wish that Singapore will still have such!!!!!!

The old school bus stop. Reminds me that we are all well-sheltered in Singapore. Too pampered I guess.

Penang’s court, we were told by the Trishaw uncle. Today house the High Courts. Logan’s Monument is located in the grounds.

Next stop, Char Kway Teow. Though we have Char Kway Teow in Singapore, but Penang’s Char Kway Teow is so different from Singapore’s. It isn’t as dark as compared to Singapore’s version. They even have prawns. Well, I equally like both versions!

Look at how enjoyable Michelle was and you will know how delicious the char kway teow was.

Trishaw Uncle brought us to New World Park at Swatow Lane. It is the modern food court, quite similar to our Singapore’s “lao pa sat”. He introduced us to the Ice Kacang. But unfortunately, we were too full to try. Instead we had some fruits.

This is the Ice Kachang cum fruit stall. Cheap right?

Our wonderful trishaw uncle brought us the famous “Tau Sah Peah” stall, Him Heaung. HAPPY! We excitedly grabbed our food loots to bring back to Singapore.

Different places of interests of Penang that Trishaw Uncle brought us to.

Kapitan Keling Mosque which is along Jalan Kapitan Keling, also known as Pitt Street. A monumental structure crowned by copper domes. One of the largest mosque in George Town, founded around 1800. It features domes, turrets and minarets. We were told that the mosque is used by Muslims five times a day, everyday a week. It is full on Fridays and overflows during Muslim celebrations of Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Hari Raya Haji.

The church….
Temple…Thai temple. I went in to pray for better health and good luck.

The retro street.
Complimentary Xmas cup cakes. YUMMY! All digested in our stomachs.

Last but not least, a picture with the Trishaw uncle before we headed back to our hotel.

Personally, for first timers to Penang, I recommend the food trail organised by Traders Hotel Penang a must. You can refer to my earlier advertorial or contact Traders Hotel Penang.

Good Bye….

Good Bye, Singapore.

I will be back on Monday!

Welcome Phuket (again)!

I just booked an air ticket to Phuket in January.
I will be holding my 30th birthday party there.
Away from work, away from Singapore & away from those so-called friends.
Any friends keen to join?

NOW, more motivation. Something to look forward besides my KL trip in November. =)

I am still looking around for lodging.
Anyone can recommend?

Hello Phuket….

As promised, some of the pictures are up in Facebook.

You can view them here as well.

I still have a couple of them in my BB. Will upload those into this album when I am free tonight.

Phuket, I will be back soon. =D

Good bye Phuket; Hello Singapore… =_(

I am back.

Holidays are always that SHORT!

Exhausted.

Loots: 3 bikini, 1 polo tee for dad, 1 tee for Scott & 1 dress.
Even bought 2 dresses at TP just now. @_@

Planning for the next trip. Phuket, BKK, HK or just Amara Santuary?

P/S: Pics will be uploaded soon.

Counting down…

3 more days!

I will say BYE BYE SINGAPORE!

Off to Phuket!

Amara Sanctuary

By chance, I was invited to Amara Sanctuary by Princessa.

Lunch was held over at Amara Sanctuary’s Shutter Restaurant. I was too hungry till I totally forgotten to take pictures of my food. =/ I had baked cod. FANTASTIC was the word used on the food. Every single ingredients were fresh, included the bread served.
The tour started immediately after lunch.

The beautiful sky pool, one of the pool in the hotel. It’s the sea view. So damn nice right? I wish I can dip in the water in my bikini. =X

The standard room facing the sea. I was told it cost S$250++ on a non peak weekend!
The balcony. It’s a good room, cos you can actually have easy access to the sky pool.
I AM JUST SO LUCKY! I witnessed a wedding there!
The bride is so damn CHIO lor. I so envy her. @_@
Fully furnished gym. Suddenly, I feel like going to gym. =X
Next, we went to the Court Yard Suite. I simply LOVE it!
A small little cozy balcony in front of the suite.
The super duper big bed. And, the bed sheet is so soft. I bet it’s 400 thread and above!
The bathroom. What I like most is the mini garden.
DeadPris & the mini jacuzzi pool. We all felt so much like jumping into the pool as it was a rather hot day.

Besides the Jacuzzi Pool, you can actually lie down, rest, nap or even read your favourite book.

Another pool. With a bar. Hee…. & besides it, it is the kid pool. I like the slide. =D

Last but not least, the ballroom. It can take up to 50 tables, if I remember clearly.

Now, I am planning for a staycation at Amara Sanctuary! Anyone keen? I wonder if I get any discount? =X
