Sponsored Advertorial – Girls’ Trip Out (Penang) Day 1

Thank you, Malaysia Airlines (MAS) for the air tickets to Penang, which marked my virgin trip!

At Singapore Changi airport, the MAS staff treated us like VIP. First, we were assigned to better seats despite the online check-in done earlier. Next, we were greeted by the management of MAS. That seriously made us feel very VIP-like. Best of all, we were given the access of MAS‘ Golden Lounge.

We were so “shua gu” (mountain tortoise) that upon entering the Golden Lounge, we checked out every single corner of the Golden Lounge. -_-” First timer in an airport lounge, therefore, do forgive us.

The meeting room equiped with computers.

The big lounge with TVs. You can either rest, relax and have a cup of coffee or try the Usqueeze from OSIM while waiting for your boarding.

Great & delicious food! That saved us some money from eating at the expensive Terminal 2 of Changi Airport.
Hee… This is how happy I was to enjoy my breakfast and coffee at the Golden Lounge.

After our breakfast, we were “escorted” to the chair spa room. Don’t “pray pray”! It’s OSIM Udesire.

Look at how relax Michelle was! Our pre-trip massages to prepare us for the 3D2N Penang.

The Golden Lounge even has an arcade room, a well equiped toilet cum bathroom etc…..

Before we left to board our plane, me being thick-skinned, asked the MAS staff to take a picture with me. She was such a nice lady!

It was a small plane, but it was comfortable. The colourful seats brightened up my mood even more!

The better seating pitch which I love most. See! I could stretch my leg. I could even cross my legs (Ya la.. It’s unglam but who cares?) with ample space left still. It was so unlike the flight I took to Phuket. I whined throughout the whole journey about the seating pitch. =X

Thank you MAS for allowing a “special” guest to have a seat on his own. =P

My little Piggy.

I bet he was the smallest size passenger MAS ever had.

Off we went, bidding goodbye to our dear Singapore.

Our on-the-flight lunch! Yummilicious tomato rice with curry chicken. MAS really fed us non-stop. It was awesome!

The happy me after food! No doubt, the phrase “A hungry man is an angry man” is.

We reached Penang safely an hour half later.

Next 2 nights were spent at G Hotel Penang, a new 5 star hotel. Yes, the hotel was complimentary. A BIG thank you to G Hotel.

From the main door of G Hotel, you can see trees, sun and sea. It was indeed beautiful. How relax I felt!

The chic lobby and lobby lounge of G Hotel. And well, my first reaction went “WOW! Very nice hor!!!!!”

We went on a Penang food trail tour, complimentary from Traders Hotel, Penang. The Penang Food Trail, specially designed by Traders Hotel Penang is a dine-around programme for guests who are interested in sampling Penang’s famous hawker food and delicacies.

Our transport of the day and the WONDERFUL trishaw uncle we had. And yes, I like this picture. It’s just super retro.

1st stop – A road side Chendol stall. RETRO right? The Chendol was fabulous! So much different from Singapore’s version. They used fresh coconut instead. YUMMY!

The road side Indian stall. How we seriously wish that Singapore will still have such!!!!!!

The old school bus stop. Reminds me that we are all well-sheltered in Singapore. Too pampered I guess.

Penang’s court, we were told by the Trishaw uncle. Today house the High Courts. Logan’s Monument is located in the grounds.

Next stop, Char Kway Teow. Though we have Char Kway Teow in Singapore, but Penang’s Char Kway Teow is so different from Singapore’s. It isn’t as dark as compared to Singapore’s version. They even have prawns. Well, I equally like both versions!

Look at how enjoyable Michelle was and you will know how delicious the char kway teow was.

Trishaw Uncle brought us to New World Park at Swatow Lane. It is the modern food court, quite similar to our Singapore’s “lao pa sat”. He introduced us to the Ice Kacang. But unfortunately, we were too full to try. Instead we had some fruits.

This is the Ice Kachang cum fruit stall. Cheap right?

Our wonderful trishaw uncle brought us the famous “Tau Sah Peah” stall, Him Heaung. HAPPY! We excitedly grabbed our food loots to bring back to Singapore.

Different places of interests of Penang that Trishaw Uncle brought us to.

Kapitan Keling Mosque which is along Jalan Kapitan Keling, also known as Pitt Street. A monumental structure crowned by copper domes. One of the largest mosque in George Town, founded around 1800. It features domes, turrets and minarets. We were told that the mosque is used by Muslims five times a day, everyday a week. It is full on Fridays and overflows during Muslim celebrations of Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Hari Raya Haji.

The church….
Temple…Thai temple. I went in to pray for better health and good luck.

The retro street.
Complimentary Xmas cup cakes. YUMMY! All digested in our stomachs.

Last but not least, a picture with the Trishaw uncle before we headed back to our hotel.

Personally, for first timers to Penang, I recommend the food trail organised by Traders Hotel Penang a must. You can refer to my earlier advertorial or contact Traders Hotel Penang.

Stay tuned!

More updates on Day 2, 3 and G Hotel will be coming up!
