Food4Life (Bringing Joy, Touching Lives)

Once again, Christmas is round the corner! Lots of Christmas lunches, dinners & parties are coming up. Not only that, gift exchange as well. Food & presents are the biggest sin & "pocket burner" in December.

But, WAIT!

Have you ever thought of this? While we were indulging ourselves in wine, dine & gifts, have we ever thought of the less fortunate fellow mates?

If you have not, please do so now!

We are considerate fortunate to have at least the minimum 4 basic needs. But for the less fortunate ones, to have the basic 3 meals have been a problem to them each day. During festive seasons, it would be the charities themselves who dug into their reserve fund, which could be well-spent on other purposes, to provide the less fortunate with quality food.

COME ON!

LET'S SHARE THE LOVE CARE & CONCERN TO THE LESS FORTUNATE!

It will be a very different and happy Christmas or even 2008 we ever had.

If you are in the F&B line, we appeal for your kind generosity to sponsor your food to the needy.

If you have the spare time and do not know what to do with your time, be a volunteer. To me, at least, it will reduce my karma. Tongue out

If you have neither the above, then get a Polo Tee at S$19. All proceedings will go to Food4life after deducting the cost.

For more information, please refer to their website, Food4life.

Once again, a very BIG THANK YOU to you on their behalf. After all, but extending a helping hand to the needy, will for sure, make our lives happier.

PhoneBAK SE (Sony Ericsson)

This is seriously so INNOVATIVE! With PhoneBak SE, I no longer need to be afraid that I will lose my mobile as this software program will send the thief's contact number and other details to the 2 numbers which I had pre-setted into my mobile.

In additional, the software is so "smart" that it has a "eraser" features whereby it will automatically remove all the files, photos, videos etc… from the internal or memory card. With this, I do not need to be afraid that my naked pictures will be shown on the internet my privacy will not be invaded.

Isn't it way so cool for at least you no longer need to worry about your mobile? One item lesser to your worries and you will, for sure, lead a longer life! Tongue out

Look! I had downloaded mine into my precious SE810i. Have you?

If you have not, what are you waiting for? It is not as if it cost a bomb. It costs merely S$24.90! (Bonus is out so S$24.90 means nothing to us, in fact!)

Trust me! I am seriously impressed with this software and all thanks to PhoneBAK, now I can save a couple of hundred or thousand on HP cos I need not be afraid that my mobile, contacts or worst, my privacy being invaded!

For sure, I am introducing to all my friends!

Analysts warn of job cuts over credit crunch

Analysts warn of job cuts over credit crunch
Issue 08-11-2007
By Tom Flack, James Dean
Hundreds of broker jobs threatened as
weak dollar and credit crunch squeeze sector
Analysts have warned that UK-based employees of
major international brokers are at
the greatest risk of losing
their jobs, as the credit crunch and
weak dollar take their toll.
The news follows Aon's confirmation that
2,700 jobs will be
lost as part of its three-year global
restructuring programme -
1,300 more than it originally
estimated - with cuts to hit the UK.
Analysts said brokers with high
dollar revenues faced the
biggest threat of UK job losses,
as the relative high value
of the pound meant staffing was
more expensive in the UK.
The slowdown in the UK economy
and the global credit
crunch were also given as reasons for
cuts being likely.
Charles Coyne, analyst at KBC Peel Hunt, said:
"If revenues are in dollars, but expenses
are in sterling - or euros - then
expenses in areas where currencies are
stronger become more of an issue."
Brokers are in a difficult position. Primary insurers may
be retaining more risk as prices drop, so there's less to
pass around to brokers," he added.
Mark Adams, insurance partner at Deloitte, said that
job losses at global brokers were a natural
fall-out from the
Spitzer reforms, but it was difficult to
predict losses in the UK.
He said: "The stresses affecting the
larger players are
very different from those impacting
on the smaller ones."
However, research by Plimsoll
Publishing suggests that
5,000 UK broker employees could
lose their jobs, as
a result of the slowdown in the
economy and the credit crunch.
David Pattison, senior
analyst at Plimsoll, said:
"We can expect significant
players making significant job cuts.
"When announcing its global
restructuring plans in
October 2005, Aon estimated a
loss of 1,400 jobs worldwide
by the end of 2007, with 750
going in the UK.
But, this figure had risen to 1,800
jobs globally by March 2006.
Gretchen Roetzer and Gregory
Dickerson, analysts at
Fitch Ratings, said: "We would
not be surprised if the recently
announced programme was focused
more on the company's
European businesses, although further
job cuts in the US and UK remain possible."
However, they did not believe that Aon's cuts were
made because of potential subprime losses."
Fitch views Aon's exposure, if any, to sub-prime losses
as modest, and does not believe that these actions
are related to investment impairments", they said.
They added that it was "not clear" whether Aon's
biggest rivals, Marsh and Willis, would cut jobs.
A spokesperson for Willis said:
"We are always reviewing
our business model, but currently have no need to
restructure or have significant job cuts."
Marsh declined to comment.

I’m not sure if I’m insured

Year 2007 is almost at it's end. I'm not so sure what 2008 would be bringing along. So there are two ways to look at it.

Either it's the coming of an end, or a dawn of a new beginning. Depends really on how you look at things.

It has me thinking though… There's a lot of uncertainties in this world! Have I done everything I can to make sure that I'm buffered on whatever life might bring?

This is the reason why suddenly I'm thinking of insurance right now. It is a part of what I do, but now I'm looking at it in a more personal perspective. There's a lot of them available in the market now. Be it car insurance or home insurance take your pick.

For example, if I want to buy a car where should I get the insurance and what kind should I be getting? See, you should compare car insurance  no matter what. Because there will be a lot of choices and your decision should be based on your lifestyle and income flow.

For some, it sounds very boring. Sometimes I think so too. But these are things that should not be overlooked. Otherwise, you'll regret it. haha! Seriously, it would mean a lot of trouble in the future if you don't start out in the right foot. So to speak.

Batam

I had a SHORT break, away from the familiar Singapore and Batam, there I was with my cousin, Ailing. To be exact, we were there for less than 48 hours, but it was just enough for me to slightly recharge myself.

At the so-called London Bridge, or should I call it, Batam Bridge? I was told it was designed by their local Engineering Graduate. See how beautiful the scenery were.   Oh yes, they had a drink store via motor cycle.  Did you realise that they placed their can drinks upside down? For sure, a reason behind it. GUESS?

I was told it was to prevent dust from collecting at the mouth of the cans. Innovative! Cos I had never thought of that before.

This man is selling home-cooked seafood he had caught from the sea. If I am not wrong, 3 of any choice cost only S$1.50. Tasty? I am not sure. I did not buy to eat as I am allergy to seafood nowadays.

We went for our seafood lunch, whereby I was turned a "vegetarian". *Sob sob*   My cousin, Ailing and her stupid "Boy Boy" which turned up in Batam without a passport!

We proceeded to our "shopping trip" which we did not shop much except for food.

& FINALLY, we were sent to our hotel, Crown Vista, which is on top on a hilltop and from the balcony, you will be able to see the scenery of Batam.  Look at how grand the lobby is. Given that it is only a 3-star hotel.   We had a quick dinner and proceeded to our upgraded Deluxe Room (Additional S$20 per night) to have a short break before we had to our worth-the-value massage.

Our upgraded Deluxe room. The 2 super single bed.   What, in fact, interested us was the big big balcony.

The massage was satisfactory! Or I should say, I was GREAT till the extend that we decided to tip the ladies S$5 each! Worth the money (1 for 1 at S$66)! I was knocked out at 11.30pm that night.

The day scene of the balcony. Slightly rainy morning but we still proceeded to the swimming pool for a quick swim.

The next day, after our swim and breakfast, we ended up rotting at our hotel room until our check out time of 12.30pm. We were sent back to Batam Centre terminal and we hanged around at Batam Centre for a couple of hours. We had A&W, which was already extinct in Singapore. I miss the curly fries!

The donuts from J.Co are delicious, as compared to the ones I had in Singapore. Moreover, they are cheaper, S$0.90 each. I bought 6 back and I think I ate half of them. LOLx……

We even went to the Hypermart to get body scrubs. It merely cost S$2 per container. So cheap!

Our ferry was at 4pm Batam time.  On board the bigger ferry, looking at the deep big sea. FINALLY, a picture of me. Hee….

Off we went home. Good Bye Batam.

I WILL BE BACK SOON!

I miss Batam as at off now.
